Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) makes some of the best camping hammocks around, but a hammock alone won’t keep you warm at night. You need a decent underquilt for insulation on the bottom as well as a top quilt.
In this guide, I’ll share the best underquilts for ENO SingleNest or DoubleNest hammocks that are all designed to do one thing: keep you warm in your hammock.
What Size Underquilt for ENO Hammocks?
You might expect all underquilts to be the same size, but that’s not quite true. Whilst most will be full length, it’s also possible to stumble across 3/4 length and there’s even some that are 7/8 length, although these are quite uncommon.
Unless you have brought along some smaller foam pads for sitting on or to use under your backpack, I’d recommend opting for a full-length underquilt with your ENO hammock to ensure your head and toes are insulated.
All of the recommendations I’ll share below are full-length underquilts.

My top pick is the ENO Vulcan Underquilt which offers a good compromise between performance and price. It sits in the middle of ENO’s underquilt range so it doesn’t have the down feather filling that the more premium underquilt has (see below), but does improve upon the Ember.
It features ENOs Primaloft® Silver Insulation, a high-performance polyester filling that has been constructed to minimize any heat loss and drafts.
The shell is a water-repellent 20D nylon with a ripstop weave to reinforce it and prevent tears, It has a fully adjustable suspension system which makes it easy to adjust how it fits the hammock by simply tightening it or loosening the cords.
The Vulcan Underquilt is ideal for use with ENO hammocks, suitable for SingleNest, DoubleNest, and all other gathered end hammocks from ENO.

The Shield Cradle Underquilt OneTigris is an affordable, yet functional companion for your hammock. One of the biggest benefits of this underquilt is that it can be used in temperatures as low as 23°F, making it suitable for use during the winter months as well.
Both the filling and lining are made from synthetic materials. The lining uses Polyester Pongee which is denser than typical polyester and excellent for heat retention and minimizing wind chill.
Unfortunately, this dense material does add a lot of excess weight so the Shield Cradle is heavier than many other underquilts at 59oz so won’t be ideal for taking on long hikes.
The outer shell is made from nylon and similar to the material used on ENO’s own underquilts. It attaches to your hammock via the built-in bungee cord loops.
Budget Pick: AYAMAYA Underquilt

The AYAMAYA Underquilt is a 4 season hammock underquilt that will keep you warm and cozy while camping in the mountains. Considering the budget price, the underquilt still has a temperature rating between 20°F – 68°F which competes with many top-end brands.
This underquilt comes with two large carabiners, elastic straps, and short bungee cord loops for easily attaching to your hammock. The particular underquilt featured here is only suited for ENO SingleNest hammocks, although there is a larger one that would be better for DoubleNest hammocks.
The shell is made of ripstop nylon which is very resistant to rips and tears whilst being lightweight.
It has an irregular cocoon shape which makes it a bit awkward to pack away into the included bag, however you’ll soon master it after a few attempts. Overall, it’s not the lightest of underquilts, but given the price point, it’s hard to complain.

Best Value: ENO Ember

ENO’s Ember is the most affordable underquilt from ENO, but that doesn’t make it any less good. As with the Vulcan, this under quilt uses synthetic insulation and their Offset-Quilted Construction that helps reduce cold spots.
Whilst the Vulcan uses 60% recycled insulation, the Ember uses 100% so it’s a good pick if sustainability is important to you. The insulation is two layers thick making it suitable for temperatures between 40-60 degrees F.
The ENO Ember Underquilt adapts to any sleep position and is compatible with every ENO hammock (except the SkyLoft). It has a fully adjustable shock cord suspension system that allows you to adjust your under quilt for the perfect fit.
The outer shell uses a denser nylon than the other two ENO underquilts which makes it more durable. Although with less insulation the total weight is roughly the same.
Best for Winter: ENO Blaze

The Blaze underquilt is ENO’s top-of-the-line underquilt that’s designed to withstand the coldest of temperatures. It’s the perfect solution for those who like to sleep under the stars but want a little more comfort and warmth than a sleeping bag.
Rather than a synthetic filling, the ENO Blaze uses down (fine feathers). This is both warmer and lighter than synthetic fillings. When exposed to moisture, down tends to be less effective, however, ENO use their signature DownTek™ insulation which has been treated to repel moisture.
The structure of the underquilt has been designed to eliminate cold spots and improve its ability to trap heat. As with the previous ENO underquilts, it’s suitable for all ENO hammocks except for the SkyLoft.
The outer shell is 20D nylon which is less dense than ENO’s other underquilts but has been purposefully designed this way to reduce the weight and compression size. It weighs just 28oz and measures 13.25” x 7” x 7” when packed away.
As this is a dedicated Winter underquilt. it’s the most expensive on the market so will only be suitable for serious hammock campers.
Lightweight Pick: Go Outfitters Stratus

The Stratus underquilt from Go Outdoors is the ultimate lightweight underquilt for your ENO hammock. It features their Stratashield insulation, a synthetic fill that provides superior lofting properties and warmth retention when compressed.
Due to its lighter design, the temperature rating isn’t as low as the other underquilts here so it’s best suited for spring/summer use, however it weighs just 26 oz and packs away to be 6×8” which is the smallest packed size I’ve come across in all my hammock underquilt reviews.
The lightweight fabric with a ripstop weave provides strength without adding bulk or weight, making it great for backpacking or hiking trips.
