Hanging pods (also known as swing pods, hanging tent pods, and many other names) are the perfect addition to your home and can be strung up from a tree in your garden, a beam indoors, or a dedicated hanging pod stand.
Unlike a hammock chair, a hanging pod allows you more freedom to choose a position that suits you, whether that’s sitting up, lying down, or even curled into a ball. Plus, they provide shade from the sun and a more private space to relax.
There are many different styles and brands to choose from so I’ve put together this helpful guide where I’ll share the best products on the market and what makes each one unique.
Quick Summary
In a rush? Here are my top three hanging pods. Keep reading for the full list.
- Suitable for adults and children
- Available as a single or double
- Very durable
Are Hanging Pods Comfortable?
Yes, hanging pods are comfortable for lounging in and can be suitable for both indoors or out. You’ll want to make sure that the size and weight capacity are right for you to ensure you can fully relax and enjoy the pod.
Most manufacturers only make pods for children so they are much smaller in size and strength. However, that doesn’t mean the adults can’t have some fun too, there are two brands I know of that make larger hanging pods suitable for adults, see the Vivere Cacoon and TreePod Lounger below.

Keep reading for my full reviews of each pod in which I’ll tear down the good, the bad, and the ugly.
At the end of the article, I’ve put together a full specs table for side-by-side comparisons of the key features.
Best Overall: Vivere Cacoon
Pros:
Cons:
The best overall hanging pod is the Vivere Cacoon which is one of the only adult pod swing currently available on the market that’s any good (one more recommendation later on).
It’s available in two sizes, single and double (shown here is the double). Whilst both have the same weight capacity of 440lbs (or 200kg), the single is suitable for one adult and one child whereas the double pod is suitable for two adults.
It’s made from a combination of cotton and polyester which is why it is so strong and suitable for both indoor or outdoor use. However, you will need to have a high ceiling to use the double size indoors because it requires a hanging height of 183cm (72”).
Both sizes are available in 6 different colors; Red, Green, Mango, White, Taupe, and Turquoise. There are no pillows or hanging kit included, however, there are a range of accessories you can purchase including a cacoon cover, bug net, and Vivere’s tripod stand if you’re looking for a hanging pod with a stand.
The only downside to this product is the price tag but you get what you pay for and it also comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee as well as the standard warranty.
Vivere also have a Bonsai Cacoon just for kids which I’ll share later in the article.
Budget Pick: Sorbus
Pros:
Cons:
If you’re after something more affordable than the Vivere, the Sorbus pod swing is also one of the larger products on the market and it comes with all of the hanging hardware required to put it up.
The reason it’s cheaper is that it’s only supposed to hold children due to a 250lb weight capacity. It’s rated for 3 children, although smaller adults could still make use of it thanks to a decent amount of headspace.
Whilst Sorbus recommend that this could be used indoors or outside, it’s made from 100% cotton so it may not hold up as well as the Vivere when left out in the rain so you’ll need to ensure you put it away after use and during the winter months.
The Sorbus has three windows to let plenty of light in and ensure you know what the kids are up to. Unfortunately, there is only one product available and it’s in blue.
Best for Indoors: Y-Stop
Pros:
Cons:
If you’re looking for a cozy indoor hammock pod, then look no further than the Y-Stop Kids Pod. It’s been designed as a sensory pod to help children with their balance and senses.
Inside, it comes with an inflatable pillow that fits perfectly in the base of the pod and the cotton material has pockets on the inside for children to store their toys and belongings.
Unlike most of the other hanging pods here, this one has been designed for just one person rather than sharing. It has the smallest weight capacity at 176lbs and is just 69cm (27”) wide so it’s also the smallest in size.
Children will love the bright and bold colors, with 4 different combinations to choose from including Blue & Green, Blue & Yellow, Green, and Pink & Blue.
This hanging pod is the best one for use indoors since it is the most compact and requires the least space to hang from the ceiling. Similar to the Sorbus, it’s also made from cotton which doesn’t fare so well when left outside.
Great for Adults: TreePod Lounger
Pros:
Cons:
Next up is the second hanging pod for adults on my list and that’s the TreePod Lounger. In terms of size, this pod comes in three options: 4ft, 5ft, and 6ft. Besides the different diameter of the pod, the rest of the specs are identical across the three sizes.
The biggest selling point of the TreePod is the huge weight capacity of 500lbs which could easily hold two larger adults. Compared to the Vivere which is the other adult pod in this review, it has a cylindrical shape which means it feels more spacious when you’re inside.
All three sizes are available in three colors: Graphite, Aquamarine, and State Blue. All of the equipment required for hanging the pod indoors or outside is included in the package, although you’ll need a large space if planning to hang it indoors as the biggest pod requires around 183cm (72”) of hanging height.
As well as being built to a high standard, the pod is made from UV and water-resistant materials which gives it extra durability. However, keep in mind that this is by far the most expensive hanging pod, even for the smaller size.
Best for Outdoors: Jumptastic
Pros:
Cons:
If you’ll be hanging your pod outdoors such as from a tree, then the Jumtastic hanging pod is a great pick because it’s made from highly durable cotton with a PVC coating which will ensure it survives the weather (although you should always take any pod indoors when it rains).
Again, this is another pod that’s only suitable for children with a 220lb weight limit which the manufacturer suggests will be suitable for 2-3 children at a time. However, some parents have said they can also use it when their children aren’t around.
The Jumptatstic pod is available in either blue or red with the same star pattern. It has an alloy steel frame which gives this pod more of a cylinder shape and it’s one of the wider products at 114cm (45”). The downside is that it’s a bit difficult to put together as the instructions aren’t the clearest.
Despite being such a big pod, it’s still about average in terms of price range compared to the other pods. It also comes with all the hanging hardware including an adjustable rope and a cotton cushion which makes it a super cozy pod.
Best for Kids: Vivere Bonsai
Pros:
Cons:
I’ve already shared the single and double Vivere Cacoon in the top spot, but they also have another type of hanging pod called the Vivere Bonsai which is smaller than the single Cacoon and targeted at children instead.
Instead of being 5ft or 6ft wide, this one is just 4ft and has a shorter hanging height which is also 4ft so it takes up less space and is a better pick for indoors where space is more limited.
Despite the smaller size, the Vivere Bonsai is just as tough as the Cacoon because it’s made with a combination of cotton and polyester which gives it the same 440lb (200kg) weight limit.
Again, being a high-quality Vivere product, it comes with a higher price tag than I’d like to see for a children’s hanging pod, although you do also have the pick between 6 different colors.
Detachable 2-in-1: Costzon
Pros:
Cons:
Finally, I wanted to share the Costzon hanging pod which is unique because the tent part can be detached to leave a saucer-style swing seat. This is great in the summer when it might be too warm for the full pod.
The seat itself is made from polypropylene which you’ll know better as the material used in trampolines. This makes it very cushioned and comfortable to sit on, although the seat it isn’t bouncy like a trampoline so you don’t need to worry about any safety concerns.
Again, this is a children’s pod and isn’t suitable for adults due to its size, however, it can hold up to 330lbs which means several children could share it. Like many of the other pods here, the outer material is made from a blend of cotton and polyester, however, the way it’s put together means the tent part is less durable than others and may not last longer than one season.
Another unique feature of this pod is that the door rolls up like a tent door rather than opening like a curtain as we’ve seen in most of the previous designs.
When set up as a hanging tent, it requires a hanging height of 52”, however, the rope is adjustable so you can settle for a shorter height when using it without the tent part. This makes it great for both indoor and outdoor use.
